GREEN LUNG

Bachelor of City Planning (Honours) | Individual Work
This project explored the redesign of a 10-hectare site in Salt River through a spatially integrated, mixed-use urban framework guided by placemaking principles and diverse housing typologies, including state-subsidised housing. The proposal was driven by the concept of a “Green Lung”, a linear urban park designed to weave ecological infrastructure, public life and movement through the precinct. The form of the Green Lung and its network of pathways emerged from an analysis of existing pedestrian desire lines across the site, using observed movement patterns to shape the design. Transport exchanges positioned on the northern and southern edges strengthened connectivity to existing train and BRT networks, reinforcing the relationship between mobility, density and accessible public space. The project reimagined how green infrastructure and transit-oriented design can shape more inclusive, connected and resilient urban communities.
