URBAN TAPESTRY

1st Year Masters of Urban Systems
Individual Work
Urban Tapestry reimagines the Shatou District in Shenzhen as a connected urban landscape where public space becomes the catalyst for social cohesion, wellbeing and urban vitality. The proposal transforms everyday movement into opportunities for connection and belonging. Alongside the group masterplan, I independently developed a socio-economic framework centred on creating an interwoven community life. Rather than focusing solely on physical renewal, the proposal reimagined how housing, governance and public space can work together to strengthen social cohesion and community wellbeing. Through a professionally managed long-term rental model, revenue generated within Xiasha is reinvested into public spaces, social infrastructure and local services, creating a self-sustaining system of neighbourhood improvement without displacing existing residents.
